Prison servers don't have a normal minecraft world, but instead, spawn all new players inside of a prison-themed map. Players start out with no resources and at the bottom of the prison and must obtain money by mining, fighting, and more so that they can rankup and become stronger.

How do I join a prison server from this list?
To join, scroll through the Minecraft prison servers above and pick one that looks like it has the features you want. Some common things to look for are custom enchants, private mines, cells, and events. Once you have found a server that seems interesting, click the Copy IP button. Then open Minecraft, click Multiplayer, click Add Server and paste the server IP into the address box, then save and join. If you have issues connecting, check the description to make sure it is online and supports the edition of Minecraft you are playing on.
How does progression work on these servers?
On prison servers, unlike other game modes, progression is typically slower and more of a grind. You usually start at a low rank, often called A, and have to mine blocks to earn in game money or tokens, then spend those on upgrading your pickaxe and ranking up through the prison. Many Minecraft servers with prison have PvP zones, envoys and in game events that let you fight other players outside of safe areas like spawn. Some servers are more relaxed while others are very competitive and have leaderboards like Blocks Top, which tracks the players who have mined the most blocks. How do I find the prison server I will enjoy the most?
When you are trying to find the best prison servers for you, first check whether it is “OP prison” or more classic. On OP prison servers you will rank up faster and usually see more PvP, custom enchants and powerful gear, while classic prison has slower progression and a more traditional feel. It also helps to look at the server’s player count and region so there is no lag while you are playing.
