Vanilla servers aim to stay as close to Minecraft's original gameplay as possible. Most vanilla servers don't have any plugins at all and just allow users to do whatever they would like. Semi-vanilla servers have some plugins but tend to still keep the gameplay very close to the original gameplay.

How do I join a vanilla server from this list?
To join one, scroll through the servers with vanilla gameplay above and pick one that looks like it’ll be fun, for example a simple survival world with a few plugins, or a small community server that advertises itself as a “pure” or “semi-vanilla”. Once you’ve found one, click the Copy IP button. Afterwards open Minecraft, click Multiplayer, then Add Server, and paste the IP into the address box to join. If you have troubles connecting, make sure you’re using a version of Minecraft the server supports, and if you are on Bedrock edition that the server allows Bedrock players. After joining you will usually spawn near an area that explains the server’s rules, and then you can teleport to the wilderness to get started.
What are these types of servers and how do they work?
A vanilla Minecraft server is a multiplayer world that tries to keep the game as close as possible to normal singleplayer survival. Pure vanilla servers run with essentially no plugins at all, while semi-vanilla ones add a few quality of life features like /home, /spawn, land claiming, and an anti-griefing system but do not change the core gameplay. On both types of servers you still mine, build, and fight mobs the same way you would in normal survival, just with other players around.
How do I find the best vanilla server for me?
When you are browsing servers with vanilla Minecraft on our list, it’s best to start by checking whether the server is pure or semi-vanilla and how strict the rules are. If you want very close to a single player feel, look for pure, if you prefer a bit more content to play you might want semi-vanilla which contains player warps, anti-griefing, and sometimes even player shops. It’s also helpful to check if the server ever resets, to make sure that you don’t lose your builds if that’s what you prefer. You can try a couple IPs from the list, play long enough to gather some resources, build a house and see if the community is friendly in order to find the best server.
