How do I find an SMP server that matches my play style?
Different SMP servers are better for different players. You can skim the description under each banner on our list and make sure the server actually supports the version of Minecraft you’re playing. After that pay attention to the basic rules and features stuff like whether PvP is on or off, if there’s land claiming, keep inventory, shops or an economy, how strict they are about griefing, and whether the world ever resets. If you want a relaxed community SMP, or just a Minecraft server with SMP where you mostly build with other players, you should look for one with land claiming and no griefing. If you prefer more action, pick a server with PvP enabled and lighter rules. Try a few IPs from the list and stick with the server where the rules and community feel right.
