Survival servers are very similar to the default Minecraft mode where users have to survival the wilderness and fight off hostile mobs in order to survive. Some servers are very close to the default mode, but some modify the gameplay greatly by adding custom features, shops, and an in-game economy. Certain survival servers have PvP enabled which allows other users to fight each other only in certain areas. It is important to check the server's help area to find out if this is allowed or not.

How do I join a survival server from this list?
Scroll through the list of survival servers above and click the Copy IP button on one that looks interesting. Afterwards open Minecraft, click Multiplayer, choose Add Server and paste the IP into the address box, then hit Join. Many of the Minecraft servers shown in our survival category support both Java and Bedrock, letting you join from your computer or phone as long as you are on a compatible version. In most cases it is safest to join using the latest Minecraft release unless the listing says otherwise.
What are survival Minecraft servers and how do they work?
In simple terms each one is a regular Minecraft survival world on a multiplayer Minecraft server that lots of players share at once. You start with basic gear/tools, mine, fight mobs or other players and slowly build up a base. Some communities keep it as close to vanilla as possible while others add plugins and rules like keep inventory, warps, land claiming and player shops. Most players prefer these types of survival servers since they do not let other people grief your bases, or steal your items.
How do I choose a server that fits me?
There is no single best survival server for everyone, it really comes down to how you like to play. Start by picking a world from our list that matches your version and device so you can actually join. From there look at the rules and features: PvP on or off, keep inventory, land claims, shops, economy, how active chat looks and how many players are usually online. Try a couple of servers that match what you enjoy and stay on the one where everything feels right.
